Rotterdam gets rehearsal and concert venue for youth orchestras
Hidden behind Hofplein is a small, striking church building dating from 1951. In 2022, the transformation of the last Baptist church in Rotterdam will start into a dynamic place for youth orchestras and choirs. At the end of 2019, Stichting Droom en Daad acquired the Baptist Church on Noordmolenwerf because of its distinctive architecture, its prominent location in the middle of the city centre and the cultural possibilities of both the church and the annex.
Music Yard for youth
Under the new name, Muziekwerf will be the first permanent rehearsal and concert venue in the Netherlands aimed at children and young people. In the Music Yard, youth ensembles can create, rehearse and present under one roof. The pleasure of 'making music together' is central to everything that happens. Music Yard will be an inspiring meeting place for Rotterdam youth from 6 to 26 years old, from beginner to professional and their audiences. Muziekwerf wants to let more children make music together for a longer period of time by facilitating a diverse offer of music companies.
