Muziekwerf (music wharf)

Hidden behind Hofplein is a small, striking church building dating from 1951. In 2022, the transformation of the last Baptist church in Rotterdam into a dynamic place for youth orchestras and choirs will start.

In Muziekwerf youth ensembles can create, rehearse and present under one roof. The pleasure of 'making music together' is central to everything that happens. Muziekwerf will be an inspiring meeting place for Rotterdam youths from 6 to 26 years of age, from beginners to professionals, and their audiences. Muziekwerf wants to let more children make music together for a longer period of time by facilitating a diverse offer of music companies.http://heiligehuisjesrotterdam.nl

Muziekwerf opens doors on May 28th from 1 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

For the Rotterdam Architecture Month, churches, synagogues, temples and mosques will open their doors from May 27th until June 4th. Muziekwerf (formerly the Baptist church) also participates with a walk-in concert and guided tours on Saturday May 28th. Let us introduce you to Muziekwerf and musical talent!

On Saturday May 28th, various musical ensembles from beginners to professionals will perform an inspiring programme. Visitors will also be informed about the transformation of the Baptist church into Muziekwerf and there will be guided tours of the special building constructed just after WWII.

The concert is a collaboration of the Academy of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Codarts, Hellendaal Music Institute, Studio JOIA and Droom en Daad Foundation. For the full programme please visit heiligehuisjesrotterdam.nl
